CENTER for CATHOLIC STUDIES FALL 2025 CONFERENCE: CATHOLICISM AND GENDER
About this Event
CALL FOR STUDENT PAPERS: Advanced undergraduate and graduate students are invited to submit proposals for concurrent sessions. We will begin reviewing proposals in May 2025; for consideration proposals must be received by 30 June 2025.
Proposals are 250-300 words, for 10-12 minutes of presentation time (1500-word presentations). Students are encouraged to submit key findings about or constructive proposals for or fresh analyses or contextual re-considerations of historical, biblical, theological or ethical issues in the area of Catholicism and gender. Scholarship may use the tools and methods of theology or philosophy, textual scholarship or history, literature or the fine arts, or the natural or social sciences. Proposals will be reviewed for selection by a team of scholars in this field. A printed program will document participation.
The day will include a buffet lunch and a substantial pre-lecture reception, courtesy of Fairfield University's Center for Catholic Studies. Selected papers will be presented in concurrent sessions in the afternoon. At 4:30 pm, a panel of early-career academics will each offer several insights from their own work-in-progress, followed by a 6:00 pm reception and the evening's public lecture at 7:00 pm, featuring Heidi Schlumpf, National Catholic Reporter.
