“Medieval Bones to Today’s Inspiring Spires: The Dedication & Recovery of Notre Dame Cathedral”

In the aftermath of a tragic fire in April of 2019, a five-year restoration project began on Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. As the iconic landmark reopens to the public, Professor emeritus Michael Davis, PhD, of Mount Holyoke College will share the beloved medieval monument’s immortal saga and newly engineered revival —complete with the most up-to-date images — as Notre Dame prepares for its next 1,000 years.

Dr. Davis founded the Architectural Studies program at Mount Holyoke and taught courses on the art of the Middle Ages, the arts of Islam, and modern architecture. His research centers on French Gothic architecture.

Presented with the Center for Catholic Studies, the Art History Department, and the Fairfield University Art Museum
