Online Teaching: Strategies and Practices, Fall 2024 Edition
Tuesday, October 29, 2024 6pm to 7:15pm
About this Event
Teaching an online course is not as straightforward as simply taking what you do in person and trying to do the same thing online. Face-to-face and online teaching exist as two very different environments, and just as you wouldn’t take the wardrobe on a trip to the Caribbean that you would to the ski trails of Vermont, you have to adapt your teaching to the specific environment as well. In this workshop, we’ll take a look at the overall approach Fairfield University takes to engaging our students in the online learning environment, and showcase and discuss some of the particular ways build community within online courses. We’ll also have spend some time answering your questions and brainstorming strategies to overcome the challenges you’ve faced (or anticipate facing).
We invite those who either already teach online courses as well as those who’ve never done so but may be considering it to attend this session. Full time or part time, undergraduate or graduate, and especially those of you preparing to teach a Winter Intersession online course—we look forward to fostering an Online Instructors’ community of learning.
