Fairfield University’s Center for Arts & Minds is thrilled to welcome community members to its stage for Make Music Fairfield Day. From 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. there will be musical acts from the campus community, as well as groups from all over Connecticut, celebrating the Summer Equinox. With family activities, as well as fun food trucks with items for purchase, this is an event for the whole family to enjoy.

Make Music Day originated in France as Fête de la Musique in 1982, and since then has spread globally. This year, the Arts & Minds stage is excited to welcome two incredible Fairfield University faculty acts:

The Noodlers are a faculty group bringing together professors from across departments to play music and have fun. They got their start playing backyard parties and are thrilled to participate in Make Music Fairfield Day for the first time this year. Margaret Collins, PhD, instructor in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, will also grace the stage, bringing with her a vast variety of world music stylings.

As the grand finale, we will be welcoming the Zambonis, a widely celebrated rock band focusing entirely on hockey. Founded in 1991 when lead singer Dave Schneider asked friends Tarquin and Peter Katis to start a group celebrating their shared love of the sport. Imbued with an energizing sense of humor, various members of the Zambonis have shared the stage with Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees, Chris Frantz of the Talking Heads, Guster, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and NRBQ.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets to make a day of this event. Water and snacks will be available throughout the day.
